Check whether you need data, days or another destination
Open the provider account and identify what is running out: a fixed data allowance, a validity period, a daily hotspot allowance or coverage for your next country. These are different limits. A new data package may not extend time, and extra days may not change a separate hotspot restriction. Record the current package’s expiry, remaining data and coverage before buying. Compare the exact replacement or extension against your remaining itinerary instead of assuming that the original package can always be renewed with identical terms.
Find the option attached to your installed eSIM
In Airalo’s traditional My eSIMs flow, rechargeable profiles show an eligible top-up option; an absent option can mean another purchase is needed. Its newer app uses a reusable eSIM and a different package flow. Other providers also vary by account and purchase generation. Open the official app or account using the credentials for the existing order, and read the offer shown for that profile. A fresh purchase from a destination landing page is not necessarily a recharge, even if the destination and data amount look the same.
Understand reusable-profile rules
A reusable eSIM can let eligible packages use a profile already installed on the phone, but it does not make all packages interchangeable. Holafly’s current help page describes adding days or new trips to eligible reusable eSIM purchases made from September 30, 2026, with destination exceptions and the same purchase email required. Earlier orders may follow different instructions. Check your own account before paying and retain the installed profile between trips when the provider directs you to do so. Reuse on one phone does not automatically permit transfer to another phone.
Check when the new allowance will start
Read whether the added package begins immediately, after the existing allowance expires or only when you connect in its covered destination. If you buy overlapping destination packages, one may continue counting down while you use another. Do not assume unused data or time carries over, that multiple allowances merge, or that switching a line off pauses validity. Before checkout, confirm the complete price, currency, data amount, coverage and expiry rules. Save the confirmation so you can distinguish a successful purchase from a package that is actually active.
Restore service and verify the purchase
Use Wi-Fi or another working connection to complete the purchase if mobile data has already stopped. Keep the intended travel line enabled and selected for data, follow the provider’s connection instructions and check the new package status. A brief airplane-mode cycle or restart may help the phone register, but repeatedly paying is not a troubleshooting method. If the package is missing or inactive beyond the stated process, contact support with the order details. Do not delete the existing profile unless the provider confirms that replacement installation is required.
